Moving Away from Wix or Squarespace

Switching from Wix or Squarespace to a non-WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) platform isn’t a direct transfer - these platforms don’t allow you to export your full site design and code. Instead, your site will need to be rebuilt on the new platform. While that may sound daunting, it’s really just a step-by-step process.

Why a Direct Move Isn’t Possible
  → Proprietary Systems: Wix and Squarespace are closed platforms, meaning your website is tied to their technology.
  → No Full Export: You can’t export the design or layout in a way that can be moved elsewhere.
  → Rebuild Needed: To move away, your website’s design and content will be recreated on a new platform.

What the Process Looks Like
  → Choose a New Platform: Pick a non-WYSIWYG option like WordPress, a coding framework, or another host.
  → Gather Your Content: Collect your text, images, and videos from your current site.
  → Recreate the Design: Rebuild the layout and look of your website on the new platform.
  → Add Content: Place your text, photos, and media into the new design.
  → Point Your Domain: Update your domain settings so it connects to your new site.
  → Redirect Old Pages: If needed, set up 301 redirects so search engines and visitors find the new version easily.

The good news: once rebuilt, your new site is yours to fully own and host anywhere, giving you more freedom, flexibility, and control.
